At The Smart Box Company, we are always on the look out for inspiration for new designs and ways of utilising space. We have recently returned from a wonderful long weekend break in Norfolk where we stayed in a beautifully finished airbnb called "The Nutshell".
The Nutshell is a converted workshop located on a quiet, peaceful lane in a little village called North Walsham. It's the perfect spot for visiting both the broads and the beach. Upon arrival, we could tell the owners, Jane and Mark had put a lot of thought and effort into making this a relaxing and luxurious home from home. There was classical music playing, the country air blowing through the windows, it smelt wonderful and was spotlessly clean. We felt instantly relaxed after our long drive from York.
While the space is petite, we were pleasantly surprised at how big the space felt inside. The main living area has a large comfy velvet sofa which was perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. There was also a well equipped kitchenette and small dining area. We really appreciated the breakfast hamper than Jane and Mark left us, we thought this was a thoughtful extra touch. It was full of delicious pastries, yogurts, cereals and more. The guidebook that has been left was very helpful, with some local walks and places to visit.
The bedroom is separated from the living area by a partition wall which has a large window. The Nutshell is decorated with earthy tones, but we particularly loved the green on the walls in the bedroom. Although some would think deeper coloured walls make a room feel smaller, this certainly wasn't the case. The large window in the partition wall and window allow plenty of light to shine through, making the space feel spacious and airy but still cosy. The large comfy bed with high quality bed linen made it very tricky to get out of on a morning, but gave us the best and most comfortable night sleep.
Walking back through the living area to the bathroom, you'll open the door to a fantastic reclaimed double sink. Complete with fluffy towels, toiletries, bath and overhead shower. You have everything you need for a relaxing pamper.
The Nutshell is dog friendly (win win - our head of barketing was super happy to go on his holidays!), there's a lovely secure courtyard area so you can sit outside enjoying the summer sunshine knowing your pooch escape and take themselves off for a little walk. We really enjoyed sitting out here with a cup of tea, admiring the peaceful countryside - thank you English weather for being good to us!
Overall, our stay at The Nutshell was perfect, easily one of the best places we have stayed in. It was the ideal base for exploring and the interior design was beautifully done. We highly recommend if you are looking for somewhere to escape to for a few days, and if you do - check out The Suffield Arms for a delicious food spot. Lastly, an extra thank you for Jane and Mark for a wonderful stay. We can't wait to return!
